This was the first time the car had turned a wheel in anger and we were there. We were trusted with the first test of the Mission and what an exciting prospect it really is. Created by Tom Sadler with lots of input from his dad Tom snr, it's a great first effort, and straight out of the box it was quick. The chassis is nicely engineered with a fine flowing GRP body of good quality and although this first prototype is a single seater, there is a road-legal two-seat version on the way. Tom, a plumber by trade, was as proud as punch to see his 'baby' roll-out onto the cold and wet Leicestershire track. The cockpit space is a little on the snug side for me, although the road going version will be 4" wider, and we also found the 500lb springs to be very firm. Performance from the Honda Super Blackbird was exhilarating, as one would expect. Tom, plans to add a rear wing, which will aid stability at speed, although for its very first outing the handling was pretty good, with only a little oversteer when really pushed hard. We think this car has real potential and will also be affordable with a DIY build expected to be sub-10K." For more information contact Tom on: 01621-784589 or email: tom@t5developments.com |
